Ditch the generic rewards
Overly general rewards may sound like a great idea, but ultimately they fail to succeed in their mission. If every employee gets the same rewards for different work, they may not apply themselves fully to the project. Make an effort to reward individuals for their accomplishments in a way that is satisfying to each person.
Tap into the element of surprise
Predictable patterns also make your employees roll their eyes at the process. If the same things happen over and over again, they lose their motivating edge. Do something spontaneously or completely unexpected to get your team’s creative energies flowing again.
Focus on the fun
Finally, employees like to enjoy the workplace; they spend more time at work than at home with their families. It doesn’t have to be all work, no play. Plan fun events that don’t have a specific tie to accomplishments, just to keep things lighthearted and fun. This will make them curious about what will happen next and happy to come in to work every day.
